Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology


The Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®) program is available to all ABA diplomates, whether or not their initial certification is time-limited. MOCA® is a ten-year program, and diplomates with a time-limited certificate must complete the program before their current certification expires in order to maintain their diplomate status.

    Content Outline

    The ABA MOCA/Recertification Examination is comprised of 200 questions, of which approximately one-half of the questions are in General Anesthesia and approximately one-twelfth of the questions are in each of the following areas: Pediatric Anesthesia, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, Neuroanesthesia, Critical Care Medicine, Obstetrical/Gynecologic Anesthesia, and Pain Medicine.

    Examination Results

    The results of ABA examinations are available to candidates online through their personal portal account, and are also mailed to candidates. The dates below represent the latest dates that the results will be available online or mailed.
